Top 23 Tips of SEO You Must Know

This is part 2 of the 4 parts of Top 23 of SEO Tips

5.   Use Your Keyword Phrase in Your Subtitle and Headlines

Breaking blog posts up using subtitles and section headlines not only makes them more visually appealing on a text heavy computer screen, but it also gives you additional opportunities to use your keyword phrase.

6.   Use Your Keyword Phrase in the Body of Your Content

It’s important that you use your keyword phrase in the body of your blog post. A good goal to try to achieve is to use your keyword phrase at least twice in the first paragraph of your post and as many times as you can (without keyword stuffing) within the first 200 (alternatively, the first 1,000) words of your post.

Include the keywords naturally in post content. Use main keywords in

,

tags. Keywords should be relevant to page.

7.   Keyword Density

It is used to be that people kept a very close watch on the density of keyword in their body content. Typically they kept their keyword density around 2-7%.

Nowadays there is very little weight on the keyword density of your content as long as it’s not overdone or unnatural appearing. They keyword density that are being referred to is the one that in your meta data and title tag. It is an exact rule to follow, but just use common sense for this.

Don’t have your title, meta keywords, and meta description all be just your main keyphrase. That’s a 100% density and will raise a red flag.

7.   Inbound links

Links from relevant sites means these sites are voting for you and you will get importance for ranking. Stay away from bad neighbors. At least do not link from you to bad sites. Let bad neighbors link to you as you don’t have control on that so ignore it.

As I mentioned above strictly try to have different anchor text for inbound links. Stay away from link spamming. Try to get some .edu and .gov links.

8.   Outbound links:

Do not link to more than 100 links from same page. It will be considered as link farm (word you might be hearing from beginning ;-)). Many outgoing links will not give you any benefit. Keep outgoing links limited and possibly link to relevant sites only.

9.   Use Your Keyword Phrase in and Around Your Links

Search engines count links higher than plain text in their search algorithms, so try to create links that use your keyword phrase. Avoid using links that simply say, “click here” or “more information” as these links will do nothing to help you with your search engine optimization. Leverage the power of links in SEO by including your keyword phrase in them whenever possible.

The text surrounding links is typically weighted more heavily by search engines than other text on your page as well. If you can’t include your keyword phrase in your link text, try to include it around your link text.

If you are submitting site to different web directories give different anchor text for each submission. Also for manual reciprocal link exchange try to have different anchor text and deeper post links instead of index page. Try to get backlinks from relevant sites.
